Reasons to use MB Filter particle filtering half masks

Unique half mask production process

MB Filter products are the result of the use of the company's own production solutions, many years of experience and continuous improvement of our products. This has enabled us to develop a facepiece shape that ensures tight face adherence and comfort during prolonged use. Also, the so-called “dead area” of the mask has been minimised, reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide and moisture in the facepiece.

Low inhalation and exhalation resistance

Every half mask has inhalation resistance. During use, the half mask becomes clogged with dust, increasing the breathing resistance. Particle filtering half masks should maintain low breathing resistance throughout their service life (one working shift).

MB Filter protective half masks are formed with a unique method, which does not close the pores in the fabric. Using the best available materials, we have been able to achieve very low inhalation resistance (for masks without a valve – this also refers to exhalation resistance). During work that requires intense effort, exhalation resistance is as important as inhalation resistance. To this end, we have developed our own shape of the facepiece and exhalation valve. The location of the valves ensures that the air exhaled from the mouth can be easily and quickly evacuated from the particle filtering half mask. The combination of these solutions ensures optimum air circulation inside the facepiece of the half mask, and it minimises the undesired heat accumulation in the facepiece.

All MB Filter particle filtering half masks have been successfully tested for dolomite dust clogging.

The products are made from the best available materials.

The masks are produced from high-quality filter materials and fabrics delivered by reputable manufacturers from Europe and the USA.

Our particle filtering half mask are nothing like the similar products imported from China.

Particle filtering half mask selection

1. General principle of particle filtering half mask selection

Particle filtering half masks should be selected depending on aerosol concentration in the workplace. To select a correct protective half mask, it is necessary to identify the type of pollutants in the workplace and determine the multiple of the TLV. The protective class of the equipment depends on the multiple of TLV. The greater the multiple of TLV, the greater the required protection rating of the filtering half mask.

2. Symbols used in particle filtering half masks:

FFP1, FFP2, FFP3 – protective class of the filtering half mask

NR – disposable product (one working shift)

– product conforming to the requirements of the standard concerning dolomite dust clogging

EN 149:2001+A1:2009 – European Standard to which the half mask conforms

It also includes information about the model and manufacturer of the particle filtering half mask.

3. Filtration efficiency for individual half mask classes

Klasa filtracji Maksymalne stężenie zanieczyszczeń Skuteczność filtracji
FFP 1 4 X TLV 80 %
FFP 2 10 X TLV 94 %
FFP 3 30 x TLV 99 %

Reference standard:

EN 149:2001+A1:2009, “Respiratory protective devices – Filtering half masks to protect against particles – Requirements, testing, marking”.

4. Typical applications for half masks of the individual classes

FFP1 -  4 X TLV

Respiratory protection against non-toxic dust – agricultural industry, food industry, quarries, cement works, wood industry – for working with softwood (coniferous wood), casting and steel structure cleaning, production of flour and feed, glass industry and ceramic industry.

FFP2 - 10 X TLV

Respiratory protection against medium-toxic solid particles – working with hardwood, aluminium and aluminium alloy working, metal ore dressing, powder coating, mining industry, chemical industry, steel industry, steel grinding and cutting, cement drilling and cutting, soldering and working with glass and mineral fibres.

FFP3 - 20 X TLV

Respiratory protection against high concentration of respirable dust – welding and soldering, work with asbestos, metal oxide smoke (zinc, lead, arsenic, vanadium silver) emitted during metal melting, casting or treatment, tanneries and galvanising plants (chromate mist and dust).
